How the American Literary Tradition Influences Our AP Literature Essay Topics
How the American Literary Tradition Influences Our AP Literature Essay TopicsMany students find that as they move through their AP Literature essay that they begin to lose sight of the kinds of essay topics that they were learning in high school. They are, for the most part, no longer learning about American literature as they were in high school. Instead, they are learning about how their own generation lives their lives and the lives of their students' generation are discussed. As this is happening, we should consider what our teachers used to be teaching us about the American literary tradition. I would like to suggest three basic areas of literature that students should have a lot of exposure to in order to fully grasp the genre. At the very least, these should make for interesting topics for your AP Literature essays. We begin with one of the most famous works of literature, William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, as it was written around the time of the Great Depression and in cludes themes from the economic depression. Again, we should think about this type of writing as being representative of the period in which it was written and not too critical of anyone but a writer like Faulkner. And we should consider that even the poets of the period did not truly think that everything was fine all the time.Following the depression, there was a period of growth in the American literary community, especially during the period of the twentieth century. This includes works such as Joyce's Ulysses, Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, and Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms. What makes this genre so fascinating is that the work of these great writers of the era can be easily forgotten if they are just one of those essays on American literature that we read from grade school to college. We should remember that even the great writers could be flawed human beings just like us.An important piece of literature is also a biography, especially if we consider that particular type of writing as being representative of the era. For example, Susan Sontag wrote a book about this topic and we should consider that she did not write this after the twentieth century. She probably had personal experience in the first half of the twentieth century and her personal experiences were a part of the writing of this particular book.We should also look at other genres of literature and find some key differences between these and the American literary tradition. For example, if we are talking about film or even television, we need to take into account the way they represent the past in a way that is also representative of the present. For instance, television shows such as Murder, She Wrote or Heroes often incorporate literary elements into their stories to represent how things were done at the time.Still, we need to remember that there is still a deep influence from the American literary tradition in the types of writings that we are reading and discussing in high school. For e xample, we often find references to American literature in writing such as The New Yorker where writing has many references to art and style in its articles. We also have MFA programs in America that are heavily influenced by American literature in their curriculum. These three areas of literature are the most important areas of the American literary tradition. By taking some time to remember these influences, we can use them to illustrate how important the great American writers of the past were to us today. We should remember that even these writers fell short of providing us with a complete picture of their era and we do not necessarily need to blame their generation for this fact.

Persuasive Essay Topics About Pilots
Persuasive Essay Topics About PilotsIf you have a topic for a persuasive essay, you may want to look at your essay topic around pilots. If this is not a major topic, it's a good topic to use. However, if you are looking to be on the fast track toward a winning essay, then you'll want to learn about this.Pilots make a very strong topic for a persuasive essay because of their skills and knowledge. They are very well known for being extremely effective at flying planes, but you may also be able to appeal to their love of flight with this topic. Their life is just as important as that of the general public. Even if the public does not always agree with their methods, it is still their duty to keep us safe.By using a strong subject like this, you can show the reader that they can trust you when you write about a topic that they trust you to write about. Of course, this should not be difficult to do. Many people know that you should not trust yourself around planes. To do this, you will nee d to examine what you have to say before you write. You should try to get a sense of how you will relate your topic to your reader and to them. You should try to see what kind of airplane these people will look at. Do they not like planes? This is an excellent way to make them relate to the theme of your essay with their lives. If you have chosen a subject that is not related to their lives, you will only be disappointing your readers. Also, you will not get the reader to trust you to write about the topic that you have chosen. For instance, if you are going to write about the history of airplanes, the fact that the airplane used today was used in World War II is not going to help you. Therefore, it will be necessary to see the types of airplanes that were used in those times. Then you can tell your readers about a typical type of airplane used then. If your reader is interested in aviation, they may be eager to find out more about the types of planes that were used then. After all, t he newspaper was not able to print every type of plane. You should think about what kind of aviation you will be writing about as a pilot and what this will mean to the reader as a person who is facing a challenging time. If your topics are from that perspective, you should be able to relate them to the reader in a very persuasive manner. Just as many professional pilots can convince the public that the new plane is much safer, you can convince your reader that this new plane is better than the one they have been flying for years. The good news is that you do not have to be an expert on pilots to use topics that relate to pilots in your persuasive essay topics. All you need to do is to find a topic that they trust you to write about and then show the reader how it relates to their lives. Then you will be in a very strong position to win the reader over.

On the other hand, research paper is NOT summary of the topic, book, or an ordinary essay. It is a genre which requires great amount of investigating and evaluating. The primary goal of research paper is NOT to only inform the reader what others have to say about certain topic, but also to create unique unbiased perspective and objective approach. Types of research paper In order to write an effective research paper you have to know two its two main types. They are: Argumentative research paper ââ¬â includes introduction wherein you introduce the topic along with thesis statement. The primary point of this type of work is persuasion which is why it usually requires debatable and controversial topics Analytical research paper ââ¬â usually begins with the writer asking a question to which (s)he has to provide an answer. This type of work requires more exploration and evaluation of the topic. Choosing and understanding a topic It doesnââ¬â¢t matter whether youââ¬â¢re a student or write for a living, you already know the drill ââ¬â sometimes you get the list of topics to write about and sometimes you have to come up with your own. Regardless of the scenario, ability to choose and understand topics is of crucial importance for success of your paper. If you get the title to write about, you should: Read it thoroughly Determine what you have to analyze and explore Create a concept Contact professor or client in case you find certain aspect of the topic confusing. In case you have to come up with title, you should: Brainstorm Think of debatable or controversial events, studies, literature works, or events from politics to base your research upon Read about current society affairs Choose to explore something youââ¬â¢re interested in Write down all ideas you come up with Read your list thoroughly and check for type of ideas that appear the most. Remember, when creating a title for your work; donââ¬â¢t think of it in terms of whether itââ¬â¢s going to be easy to find resources on Google. The reason is simple; research paper is fluid and you may approach to it from several different angles. Plus, thinking about Google results constantly will prevent you from fully developing your ideas. Although research papers arenââ¬â¢t that easy to write as they require a great deal of organization, researching, and time it doesnââ¬â¢t mean you canââ¬â¢t conquer this obstacle. Here are a few tips that will help you: Analyze the title you get/create a title following tips listed above Think critically Research and find as many sources as possible making sure they are reliable While researching, write down notes in order to easily create concept later Create an outline or concept for your work from introduction to conclusion Write first draft without stopping to edit or check for grammar or spelling mistakes Once youââ¬â¢re done with the first draft, check your work to see whether you should add something Edit and proofread Mention references. When writing a research paper you should bear in mind that information you enter, regardless of how big or small it might be, should contribute to the overall paper i.e. it should have its purpose. It is also important to be honest. Sometimes the process of researching and investigating or developing the argument throughout your paper will lead you to a conclusion that you donââ¬â¢t really agree with. But, instead of coming up with conclusion that is incorrect or based on facts that arenââ¬â¢t there, you should be honest and complete your work with integrity. And finally, donââ¬â¢t rush! Research papers require more organization and evaluation than other types of work and if you get a reasonable deadline to write them, thereââ¬â¢s no point rushing in order to finish it as soon as possible.
